Sydney Guitar Festival 2017 proudly presents an evening of Blues inspired Slide Guitar with Jeff Lang, Dom Turner (Backsliders) and The Fiona Boyes Band.
These three iconic artists will each present a set of their finest original compositions in a variety of arrangements, followed by a unique and exciting collaboration exploring some of the Slide pioneers from the Delta to the Contemporary use of Slide around the globe.

Australian-based musician Jeff Lang has earned worldwide acclaim as a virtuosic guitarist, a dynamic songwriter and a startlingly unique live performer. With a back catalogue of 16 studio albums, Jeff has been featured at major festivals, pubs, clubs, arts centres and venues internationally for the past decade. Blending rock, roots, folk, blues, ballads, instrumentals, improvisation and a devastatingly high level of musicality, Jeff Lang is a singularly unique performer in our world.
Throughout his career, Jeff has been showered with achievements and awards - the most outstanding would be his seven ARIA award nominations, as well as his three wins in 2002, 2010 and 2012.
It’s been widely acknowledged that Jeff Lang is an extraordinarily individual musician. What enhances his unique nature is his steadfast adherence to a prolific and diverse musical palette and output. A songwriter, a collaborator, a guitar virtuoso and a stunning lyricist, Jeff Lang crafts songs as novellas - rich with depth and vision, yet with an open breathe for individual interpretation.
Dom Turner is best known as guitarist/ vocalist, founding member and key songwriter of the iconic Australian blues group, Backsliders. Dom’s influences are many and varied – a blend of delta blues, piedmont blues, rock, dub and sounds of Asia. He is a highly regarded speaker on blues music and has guested on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) radio programs (including a weekly series on ABC Gold Coast entitled 'Blues Tuesdays' and guest presenting Radio National’s ‘Music Deli’) and presented music workshops at festivals and in universities (both nationally and internationally).
In 2004 Dom was voted ‘Blues Songwriter of the Year’ at the Australian Blues Awards. In 2008 Dom was invited onstage to play with slide guitar legend Derek Trucks at the Adelaide international Guitar Festival.
Fiona Boyes, an Australian blues guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, has been recording and performing for more than 25 years, building a career that has taken her to major festivals and stages around the world.
A veteran recording artist with 13 releases, Australia’s first lady of the Blues has been honored with 7 USA Blues Music Award nominations in 5 different categories over the years, including 2 nominations in the 2016 USA Blues Music Awards - 'Acoustic Artist of the Year' and 'Acoustic Album of the Year' - for her latest release 'Professin' the Blues'.
She's also received more than 30 Australian music awards, spanning the blues, folk, jazz and Americana scenes. Fiona’s immersion in the wide musical and historical traditions that make up the Blues and her deep love of the art-form itself lends conviction and authenticity to her playing and songwriting.
